If there's no follow-up with an actual time, it was polite filler. A guy who means it says 'are you free Thursday' within a few days. 'Sometime' is a soft goodbye 80% of the time.
Harsh truth: 'we should hang out sometime' is the 'k thanks bye' of interest. Real interest has a date attached.
